At the just-concluded final of the 15th National Power Industry Vocational Skills Competition (live working in distribution networks) under the framework of the 2024 National Industry Skills Competition held in Nanhai, Foshan city, Guangdong province, He Xionghao from the Live Working Operation Center of the State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company was awarded the individual second prize and the title of "Power Industry Technical Expert" after the five-day competition. The State Grid Zhejiang Power Supply Company team also won the first prize in the team competition.

Live working in distribution networks is a highly skilled job that requires the capability to perform equipment maintenance, testing, and replacement while the distribution network remains energized. Since joining the Live Working Operation Center of the State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company in August 2017, He has grown from a novice to a technical expert.

When he first joined the team, He faced the challenge of theory and practice. Under the careful guidance of his mentor, Shan Yongsheng, he started from the basics and gradually integrated theoretical knowledge with practical operations. In 2019, he participated in the live working competition organized by the China Electricity Council. Although he did not reach the final stage, he obtained a live working certificate during the competition and laid a solid foundation for his future work.

After years of honing his skills, He mastered the skills of all 33 sub-items in the four major categories of live working. In 2022, he took part in the competition again, participating in the State Grid Zhejiang Power Supply’s live working operation skills competition as the main operator. During the preparation period, he developed swelling in his shoulder due to prolonged training and had to undergo surgery. However, encouraged by his teammates, he persisted in attending the training sessions in which he shared his experiences with backup players and quickly returned to training after his recovery.

Due to his perseverance and effort, He was able to shine on the competition stage. In 2022, he won second place in the team category of the State Grid Zhejiang Power Supply Company’s live working operation skills competition; in 2023, he again won second place in the main business team category of the National Grid’s live working operation skills competition. This year, he once again represented the State Grid Zhejiang Power Supply Company in the National Industry Skills Competition and achieved outstanding results.

In addition to focusing on improving his personal skills, He also took on the task of guiding new team members voluntarily. To avoid disrupting normal work arrangements, he gave up his lunch break to conduct training. Throughout this process, coach Hu Jiang accompanied him and provided careful guidance, for which He expressed deep gratitude. He said that he will continue to deepen his expertise in the field and contribute more to the power industry in the future.
