Shanghai Disney Resort is inviting guests to join in the festive celebrations with an array of offerings, decor, and new experiences inspired by the Year of the Snake as the Chinese New Year approaches.
"This year's celebration carries even greater significance as Spring Festival was recently recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity, highlighting the profound importance of this cherished holiday, and making our shared celebrations here at Shanghai Disney resort even more meaningful," said Joe Schott, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort.
Welcoming the iconic snake, the Zodiac animal of the upcoming Chinese New Year, the resort will feature decorations inspired by Gary, the new snake character from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film Zootopia 2. Housing the world's first and only Zootopia-themed land, Shanghai Disneyland will allow visitors to encounter Gary through various New Year decorations and performances.

Gary will be incorporated into the seasonal lantern display, and decorations with it will hang around the Year of the Snake mosaic, featuring Gary as the center imagery. Gary's presence will also be spotted throughout festive adornments along Mickey Avenue.
The nighttime show, Spring Festival Celebration: "Our Families", will incorporate Gary's image from the eve of Spring Festival on Jan 28 through to the Lantern Festival on Feb 12. Projections of Disney families and a special fireworks effect writing the Chinese character for snake in the night sky will appear during the show.
Throughout the resort, lanterns with traditional red and gold decor will adorn the eaves, symbolizing luck and prosperity. Snake motifs will be woven into festive displays as well.
