Lu Han, a popular Chinese actor and singer, posted an apology for his inappropriate behavior during a livestream through the official account of his studio on Weibo, one of the largest social media platforms in China, on Monday afternoon.
He said in a statement of apology "I sincerely apologize for setting a bad example during the live broadcast. I am willing to actively rectify the negative social consequences and take on the social responsibility I should bear as an artist. In the future, I will be stricter with my conduct and extend my apologies to everyone through concrete actions".
Earlier on Monday, Lu's personal accounts on Weibo, Xiaohongshu and Douyin, which are popular social media platforms in China, were found to be blocked from following, with some platforms citing reasons related to "violating laws and regulations or community norms".
During a previous livestream on Douyin, Lu was seen drinking alcohol and making a rude gesture with his hand. He appeared slightly intoxicated, occasionally making strange facial expressions and gestures, according to the media outlet Jiupai News. Netizens have criticized his inappropriate behavior as a public figure.
Born in 1990 in Beijing, Lu made his debut as a member of the boy group EXO in South Korea. In 2014, he returned to China to develop his career. He has starred in TV dramas including Back to 20, I am a Witness and Fighter of the Destiny.
