China and India have maintained close communication on the border situation, making "important progress", China's Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
Zhang Xiaogang, the ministry's spokesman, made the remarks at a news conference in Beijing, in response to the border issue between the largest countries in Asia.
He said that based on the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, both sides have maintained close communication on the border situation and achieved great progress.
"At present, the two militaries are comprehensively and effectively implementing the resolution, achieving steady progress and good results," said Zhang.
Bringing China-India relations back to the right track is in the interest of the two countries and the two peoples, said the spokesman.
The Chinese military is ready to make concerted efforts with the Indian side to faithfully implement the important consensus of the two leaders, conduct more exchanges and interactions, and promote China-India bilateral military ties, in a bid to jointly safeguard lasting peace and tranquility in the border areas, he said.
