Guangzhou OED Technologies Inc, a high-tech company focusing on the design, development, manufacture and sales of e-paper displays, has unveiled its latest high-speed color electronic paper, marking a significant breakthrough in e-paper technology in terms of color display, refresh rate and user experience.
"The new product not only meets the diverse needs of fields such as education, business office and outdoor displays, but also provides users with an unprecedented visual experience through a series of innovative technologies," said Chen Yu, founder and general manager of OED.
The high-speed color e-paper achieves smooth video display by utilizing an innovative fast-switching electrophoretic material system and high-speed image processing algorithms.
With a screen refresh rate as fast as 17 milliseconds, approximately twice as speedy as the industry's current standard, it has reached a globally leading level, marking a remarkable achievement in the field of electronic paper, said Chen.
"This technological breakthrough enables color e-paper to smoothly update images, meeting the dynamic display requirements in areas such as smart education, smart office and displays," said Chen.
Moreover, compared to the conventional single-color dot spatial dithering mixing technology on the market, the company's product displays images through color gradation, resulting in higher color display resolution and finer image detail representation.
"By truly achieving multilevel color display, it provides users with a more realistic color experience," said Chen.
The color e-paper incorporates automatic ghosting elimination technology, which identifies and predicts ghosting to eliminate it without the user noticing, greatly enhancing the reading experience on electronic paper.
The product integrates various ghosting elimination technologies to ensure clear display effects in various usage scenarios, said Chen.
"The use of infinite continuous partial refresh technology enables users to enjoy a smooth and comfortable visual experience during rapid browsing and reading," he said.
Regarding the handwriting function, the product is compatible with both capacitive and electromagnetic resonance handwriting solutions, supporting multiple handwriting input methods.
Through dynamic waveform technology, handwriting latency is kept within 10 milliseconds, achieving a near real-time handwriting experience, said Chen.
"It is foreseeable that in the future, with the increasingly mature and widespread adoption of color electronic paper technology, e-paper technology will be deeply integrated into more fields, providing users with more convenient, environmentally friendly and efficient display solutions," said Chen.
Demand for e-paper is experiencing a growing trend in the market, with sales performance of e-paper tablets through all online channels in China keeping impressive growth, according to the latest monthly tracking report on China's e-paper tablet retail market, which was released by technology industry research firm Runto in the third quarter.
Data revealed that the retail sales volume of e-paper tablets in the third quarter reached 382,000 units, marking a year-on-year growth of 77 percent.
Sales revenue of e-paper tablets also reached 1.15 billion yuan ($158.7 million) in the third quarter, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 98.3 percent, according to the report.
"Despite the promising outlook, a cutting-edge technology faces a long journey from technical breakthrough to large-scale commercial production," said Chen.
