The 2024 Ming Culture Forum is set to kick off on July 13 at the enchanting Ming Tombs Scenic Area in Changping district in Beijing, during which more than one hundred cultural relics from over 10 institutions will be showcased, according to a news conference held this week.
Emphasizing Changping's wealth of Ming cultural resources, the forum aims to foster international appreciation of culture from the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), creating a vibrant global community of Ming enthusiasts.
The 2024 Ming Culture Forum will delve into the diverse facets of Ming society, highlighting notable achievements, pivotal events and influential figures, said Feng Zhiming, senior official of the district government, at the conference.

"To enhance the visitor experience, the forum will introduce four themed sections to attract the public — Rituals of the Ming, Delights of the Ming, Colors of the Ming and Melodies of the Ming — offering a range of activities such as aerial tours, traditional Ming ceremonies, grand banquets, sacrificial performances, fashion shows and captivating short dramas depicting scenes from the reign of the 16 Ming emperors," he said.
Meanwhile this year's forum promises to engage the public in a dynamic manner, with events scheduled throughout the year, ensuring a continuous celebration of Ming culture while making cultural experiences accessible and enriching for all.

Looking ahead, Changping aims to transform the entire region, including the revered Ming Tombs, into a global hub for studying and experiencing the wonders of Ming culture, leveraging the forum as a catalyst for cultural exploration.
The forum will offer a rich tapestry of activities, including a main forum, themed discussions, an international academic symposium, exhibitions and cultural events, promising innovation, cultural insights and a convergence of Ming dynasty treasures.

The main forum, serving as the grand opening ceremony, will feature keynote speeches by Ming history experts, insightful viewpoints from renowned actors and engaging dialogues with foreign diplomats, all centered around the themes of development and collaboration.
Additionally, the forum will unveil plans for the comprehensive opening of the Ming Tombs, the development of a Ming culture complex and research-based tourism routes.
