"Chinese literature and arts have the tradition of building up the spiritual value and meaning of life, and excellent artworks play an important role in boosting mental strength," said Fan.
范迪安表示，中国文艺从来就有为天地立心、为人民立命的传统，优秀的文艺作品具有培根铸魂、凝聚精神力量的重要作用。
Fan said that in the past years, writers and artists have visited many impoverished places to witness poverty alleviation efforts, inspiring them to produce an abundance of works of literature and art. Those works have resonated with audiences.
这些年来，广大文艺工作者积极深入生活，走向脱贫攻坚的各个战场，创作了大批反映脱贫攻坚的文艺作品，在全社会产生了强烈的思想和情感共鸣。
"On the other hand, we need to tell more stories about millions of poverty relief cadres and hundreds of millions of Chinese farmers," Fan said.
数百万扶贫干部倾心奉献、苦干实干的光荣事迹，亿万中国农民团结奋斗建设家园的精神风貌，都需要用文艺作品更深入地表现。
