医保药品目录是医保基金所支付费用的药品范围，目录内品种包括西药、中成药、中药饮片等。现行版国家医保药品目录中，共计有3088种西药和中成药，以及892种中药饮片。国家医保药品目录品种范围实现全国基本统一，不仅体现了制度公平，也有利于异地就医直接结算等工作。
国家医保局成立后，建立了动态调整机制，每年将一些新上市的新药、好药增补进入目录，已累计纳入药品744种，目录内西药和中成药数量从2017年的2535种，增加至目前的3088种，保障水平显著提升。统计显示，目前全国公立医院采购的药品中，目录内品种的采购金额占比已超过90%。
