Macao's casino patriarch Stanley Ho Hung-sun died at around 1 pm on Tuesday in Hong Kong at the age of 98, his daughter, Pansy Ho Chiu-king, told the media alongside family members at Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital later in the afternoon.
5月26日下午1时左右，澳门"赌王"、港澳企业家何鸿燊在香港逝世，享年98岁，他女儿何超琼当日下午晚些时候与家人一起在香港养和医院向媒体宣布了这一消息。
Born in Hong Kong in November 1921, the Hong Kong-Macao entrepreneur served as a member of the Standing Committee of the ninth to 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
何鸿燊1921年11月生于香港，曾任中国人民政治协商会议第九届至十一届全国委员会常务委员会委员。
Pansy Ho said her father had been highly respected for his contributions to society.
何超琼说，父亲因为对社会所做的贡献而备受尊敬。
His daughter recalled that Stanley Ho had attached great importance to family education and reminded his children that "everything from society shall be spent for society".
她回忆说，何鸿燊非常重视家庭教育，教诲子女要"取之社会用之社会"。
She said he "cherished the people of Hong Kong".
何超琼说父亲非常爱惜香港人。
Pansy Ho also said her father would always stay in the heart of the family while they would go all-out to continue his legacy, fulfilling the family's social responsibilities.
她还说，父亲将永留所有家人心中，他们会竭尽全力继承他的遗愿，履行家族的社会责任。

The Chinese team tasked with remeasuring Mount Qomolangma successfully arrived at the summit and conducted a series of surveys on the pinnacle of the planet on Wednesday.
5月27日，我国珠峰高程测量登山队成功登顶珠穆朗玛峰并完成峰顶测量任务。
The surveyors used a global navigation satellite system receiver, a gravimeter, snow-depth radar and a meteorological measuring instrument to determine the height of Qomolangma.
测量队员们使用了全球卫星导航系统接收机、重力仪、雪深雷达和气象测量仪器进行测量作业。
Innovations applied in the latest survey include the application of the Beidou-3 Navigation Satellite System, domestic surveying equipment, the airborne gravimeter and 3D interactive virtual reality.
本次珠峰高程测量应用的创新科技包括北斗三号卫星导航系统、国产测绘仪器装备、航空重力仪、三维交互虚拟现实等技术。
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the first successful expedition to Qomolangma from the Tibet side and the 45th anniversary of China's first accurate measurement of Qomolangma's height.

China's modest 2020 military budget growth is "reasonable and necessary" to address security issues both at home and abroad, while striking a balance with the nation's economic development, senior colonel Wu Qian, spokesman of the Ministry of National Defense, said on Tuesday.
5月26日，国防部新闻发言人吴谦大校表示，我国2020年国防预算适度稳定增长理所应当，很有必要，这部分经费既要满足应对国内外安全问题的需要，同时要与国家经济发展水平相协调。
The central government proposed an annual defense budget of about 1.27 trillion yuan, a 6.6% rise on the last budget. The budget's growth rate is the lowest since 1988, when a 3.81% increase was proposed.
2020年全国财政安排年度国防支出预算约为1.27万亿元，比上年增长6.6%，这是自1988年以来的最低增长率，当年的国防预算增长率为3.81%。
China has upheld the principles of adjusting its military budget in accordance with its security needs and economic development, Wu said in a video interview posted by the ministry.

"China resolutely follows the path of peaceful development and upholds a defense policy that is defensive in nature," he said.

人大议案: 加快制定外国国家豁免法
Chinese lawmakers have proposed formulating a foreign states immunities law following malicious litigation filed against China over its COVID-19 response.
全国人大代表建议制定外国国家豁免法，此前我国曾因应对新冠肺炎疫情而遭到恶意指控。
The move will protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens as well as foreign investors, said Ma Yide, a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) and a law researcher at the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences. It will also counteract malicious litigation raised in countries like the US toward China over the COVID-19 response, Ma told reporters.
全国人大代表、北京市社会科学院法学所研究员马一德向记者表示，此举将保护我国国民和外国投资者合法权益，同时对等反制美国等以新冠肺炎疫情向中国提出的恶意指控。
He said the lack of such a law has emerged as a prominent issue in the current epidemic as some countries, led by the US, tried to shift the blame for their own governments' incompetence on the COVID-19 response. Some groups and individuals even cited the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act of the US to bring litigation to the Chinese government and relevant departments, he added.
他表示，在当前疫情下，缺少这样的法律的问题尤为突出，以美国为首的部分国家正试图转嫁本国政府对新冠肺炎防疫不力的责任，甚至一些国家的团体或个人依据美国的外国主权豁免法对我国政府和相关部门提起诉讼。
Over 35 lawmakers from the NPC Beijing delegation have endorsed the proposal, which has been accepted by the session and forwarded to special committees of the national legislature for study.
