2024年3月21日，联合国大会通过决议，宣布2025年为国际和平与信任年。决议促请国际社会通过包容性对话和谈判解决冲突，确保加强国际关系中的和平与信任，以此作为促进可持续发展、和平与安全及人权的一项价值观。
决议邀请联合国教科文组织以及联合国秘书处政治和建设和平事务部为落实国际和平与信任年提供协助，鼓励所有联合国会员国，联合国系统各组织，其他国际、区域和次区域组织以及其他相关利益攸关方以适当方式举办国际和平与信任年纪念活动，并通过教育和提高公众认识活动等方式宣传和平与信任的好处。
