The Beijing Innovation Center of Humanoid Robotics opened a pilot manufacturing and validation platform on Thursday that is designed to support the transition of humanoid robots from small-batch prototyping to scalable production.

The launch was also marked by the rollout of the center's 1,000th customized prototype robot.

Completed and brought online last year, the massive facility covers prototyping process validation, system integration, and testing to promote practical applications for embodied humanoid robots. It is designed to serve companies, universities, and research institutes across the industry's supply chain.

The platform comprises small-batch pilot lines, testing laboratories, and manufacturing demo lines for complete robot models and individual components to create a complete production chain. The setup is intended to standardize the manufacturing and validation process with product consistency and reliability to shorten the transition from engineering prototypes to systems ready for larger-scale production.

An integrated digital operations system underpins the platform. It connects all stages of pilot manufacturing, from prototype testing to small-batch production, into one seamless system. By unifying data and operations on an open interface, it streamlines information, logistics, and production flows. The result is dramatically shorter development cycles so that new physical products can reach the market faster.

The platform is equipped with around 500 sets of production and testing equipment and has an annual pilot production capacity of up to 5,000 humanoid robots, according to the center. It plans to build on the platform by undertaking national research and development projects, strengthening its capabilities, and working with industry partners to support core technology breakthroughs, product maturation, and large-scale deployment.
