Thousands of performers took to the streets of Guiyang, Guizhou province, on Sunday for a parade to celebrate China Tourism Day.

The 150-minute procession featured 26 distinct groups and nearly 3,600 participants. It wove together the traditional costumes, customs, and crafts of the local Yi, Bouyei, Miao, and other ethnic groups with cutting-edge attractions like AI-powered puppets.

New cultural-tourism sensations, including the viral macaque Xiaolaofei and the popular roadside concert, added a playful spin to the province's showcase of its ethnic heritage and modern vitality.
