Zhang Ning, an inheritor of the provincial-level intangible cultural heritage Fushan paper-cutting in Linfen city, Shanxi province, has capitalized on the mega success of Ne Zha 2 by creating a series of works inspired by the hit animated film.

The exquisite red paper-cuttings feature the titular Ne Zha and other characters like Ao Bing and Taiyi Zhenren.

Zhang primarily uses specialized scissors to cut out his intricate designs, saving knives for fine details that require more dexterity.

"The artistic techniques of traditional paper-cutting need to continuously innovate and keep pace with the times," he said. "I hope that through my efforts, traditional culture can emit new and radiant light."
