A significant breakthrough in the field of green energy was achieved in Rizhao city, Shandong province, as Asia Symbol's 16,326 megawatt distributed photovoltaic power generation phase II project successfully connected to the grid and began generating electricity on Nov 28.
This project is the first large-scale industrial and commercial distributed photovoltaic project in Rizhao and is expected to inspire new achievements in energy conservation, emission reduction and green development for businesses. It is establishing a new model for high-quality development of distributed photovoltaics.
As a notable pulp and paper producer, Asia Symbol exports its products worldwide. With the continuous expansion of production, the company's demand for electricity has also increased.
This photovoltaic project, with a total investment of about 60 million yuan ($8.22 million), is being implemented in two phases. The project utilizes the roof space of the factory buildings and will produce the electricity that can be all consumed by the factory. It is expected to generate 24.27 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, save 10,000 metric tons of standard coal per year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 27,000 tons.
The successful grid connection of the project not only improves the energy self-sufficiency of the enterprise and reduces electricity costs but also achieves significant results in energy conservation and emission reduction.
During the project's implementation, the State Grid Rizhao Power Supply Company played a crucial role. From the stage of installing photovoltaics, the power supply company organized professional teams to provide detailed policy interpretation and consultation services. They conducted on-site surveys and assisted the enterprise in optimizing project plans based on actual conditions to ensure the scientific and practical feasibility of the project.
During the construction phase, the power supply company sent technical experts to the site multiple times to guide the construction, solve technical challenges and provide technical support to ensure the smooth progress of the project. Even after the project was connected to the grid, the State Grid Rizhao Power Supply Company's services did not cease.
They regularly inspect the operation of the project, check all equipment, and identify and address potential risks to ensure the stable operation of the equipment. Additionally, the company staff members introduced related policies to the enterprise and explained knowledge such as post-maintenance of photovoltaic equipment and electricity billing methods, in a bid to provide a comprehensive service.
The project signifies a solid achievement for Rizhao city in the field of green energy and provides a new momentum to stimulate the development of a new type of power system.
