Jiang Pengju, a fugitive suspect and former deputy general manager of Beijing Grain Group, has been repatriated to China, the country's top anti-corruption watchdogs announced on Wednesday.

Jiang, 46, who allegedly committed serious duty-related crimes, fled abroad in November 2023. In April this year, the supervisory department in Beijing's Chaoyang district began investigating him, making every effort to pursue him and recover assets, according to the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Commission of Supervision.

Thanks to the joint efforts of the Fugitive Repatriation and Asset Recovery Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Coordination Group and the capital's supervisory, public security and law enforcement agencies, Jiang voluntarily surrendered overseas and returned to China, the commissions said.

An official from the office said that Jiang's return was significant achievement of the ongoing Skynet, an anti-corruption manhunt campaign, emphasizing the commitment to enhancing mechanism for the pursuit, prevention and recovery of fugitives.

No matter where those fugitive flee, they will be apprehended and brought to justice, so that the interests of the country and the people can be protected, an official from the office said. The official added that the international cooperation on law enforcement will also be deepened.
