Regent Shanghai on The Bund opened its doors on Nov 1. Holiday Inn Express, IHG Hotels & Resorts' upper midscale brand, has announced table tennis world champion Xu Xin as its new brand ambassador. The brand's refreshed proposition "Recharge and Restart" will provide active young people who pursue excellence and efficiency with a more convenient and worry-free stay experience that enhances their travel quality, according to the company. Xu's multifaceted image complements Holiday Inn Express' commitment to providing well-rounded experiences for each stay, said a company statement.

Christmas lighting
Shanghai Marriott Hotel Pudong East hosted its Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Nov 21, heralding the start of its Christmas festivities. With a Christmas tree as the centerpiece of the hotel lobby, the staff members adopted recyclable rattan and environmentally friendly paper materials for the festive decor. A children's choir from Yew Wah International Education Kindergarten of Shanghai Biyun serenaded the audience with carols. Guests were indulged with seasonal treats and children were thrilled by Santa's visit.

Anniversary dinner
Wuhan Marriott Hotel Wuchang hosted an appreciation dinner at its Chinese restaurant Man Ho to celebrate its first anniversary in late October. The event featured culinary delights; interactive Lo Hei, Cantonese for laoyusheng dish, which means "tossing luck"; guzheng (Chinese zither) performances; and an on-site chef demonstration. Steven Chen, general manager of the hotel, said he wished to take this opportunity to express his thanks to friends, media representatives and business partners who have supported the hotel.

C919 visits Macao
Air China flight CA088 landed at Macau International Airport in early November, with the C919 domestic large aircraft adorned with a national flag as it taxied through a water cannon salute, symbolizing the highest honor in the civil aviation industry. Senior Macao officials and Air China executives witnessed this historic moment together. The aircraft was invited to participate in the 13th Macau Business Aviation Expo. During its four-day stay, Macao residents had the opportunity to see up close the domestic large aircraft. It is also a special gift from Air China to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland, said the airline.

Airborne brews
Capital Airlines is offering healthy Chinese tea to relieve passengers' fatigue and improve their travel experience. Its tea offerings vary according to season — chrysanthemum and cassia seed tea in spring, red bean and coix seed tea in summer, boat-fruited sterculia seed and snow pear tea in autumn, and corn silk tea in winter. The select tea series feature herbal ingredients from traditional Chinese medicine and help to enhance wellness. It's part of a comprehensive service upgrade initiative launched by the airline at the end of March, which aims to improve service quality, provide passengers with a new experience while promoting traditional Chinese culture.

CIIE appearance
Savencia Saveurs & Specialite, a global food group, made a consecutive appearance at the seventh China International Import Expo in early November. During the event, Savencia welcomed a French Michelin-starred pastry chef to craft a series of desserts and Corentin Delcroix, Sino-French food culture fusion ambassador, to share his story. Savencia also launched its new business-to-business digital platform, MySinodis, to empower the digital transformation of the food service industry.
railway trips
China's railways hit a record high of 3.71 billion passenger trips for the January-October period, up 13 percent year-on-year, according to China State Railway Group. Crossborder travel also saw growth, with the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway carrying nearly 22.5 million passengers, up 39.5 percent year-on-year. The China-Laos Railway handled 217,000 cross-border passenger trips.
