Chinese dance drama Wing Chun was staged with five shows at the Grand Theatre of Hong Kong Cultural Centre from Nov 22 to 24.
As part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival, the dance drama was performed by Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theatre with a special edition, featuring talented Hong Kong production team and artists and bringing new elements to the performance.

One highlight was the new theme song Wing Chun, produced, composed and sung by renowned local artist, George Lam, with lyrics by Keith Chan. Local conductor Fung Ka-hing led the local orchestra, The Symphonic Pops, in a live accompaniment. Additionally, a graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Huang Danyang, also was part of the performance.
By choreographers and directors Zhou Liya and Han Zhen, the dance drama premiered in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, in December 2022 and toured nationwide in 2023 in 2024.

The dance drama follows the story of Chinese kung fu masters set against the backdrop of a film shoot taking place during the 1990s and combines five types of Chinese kung fu, such as wing chun, tai chi, and baguazhang, or eight fixed palms. The performance integrates martial arts with classical and modern dance, providing the audience with a captivating visual experience.

One of the shows of the dance drama in Hong Kong was staged for about 150 students from Hong Kong during the afternoon of Nov 22, with the cast members coaching the students to perform movements of the dance drama.
In January, the dance drama was staged at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with five shows, which received warm feedback from the audience.
